12 Spring 2014 Fashion Trends

The weather outside may be winter, but spring is on its way!  The Spring Fashion Designs are here and they are fun! To look at some great examples please visit: http://www.pinterest.com/studio1030/2014-spring-fashion/

Mesh
During Spring put your mesh over black or a daring neon hue camisole.

Chiffon
Wear this floaty bridesmaid's staple under tunics or sweaters to add lightness and movement.

Dressy Pants
Whether you like it or not, many runways this Spring featured dresses that were layered over trousers.  This trend is also increasing on the red carpets.

Earthy Tones
Earthy tones are in this season, and this includes: nude, moss green, khaki and neutrals.  Earthy tones are great because they can be used as a "palate cleanser among all of the bold and bright summer trends.

Fringe
Fringe has become the embellishment of choice this season.  Although it is far away from its grungy hippie roots.

Iridescence/Candy Wrapper Colors
Whether in the form of shiny chain mail, liquid-gold lame or toughened-up sequins, the precious-metalic fabrics are here. For a major statement wear a holographic dress or skirt.  For a more subtle effect grip an iridescent clutch.

Tea-Length Skirts
The tea-length skirt (between the midi and maxi) is it for spring.  The ladylike hemline can be just as modern as anything else.

Ruffles
Ruffles were another big embellishment but less girly and more sculptural.

Big (Girl) Pants
Whether it's billowy culottes, bermuda shorts and wide-leg trousers it's all about the way the fabric flows around the leg this season.

Pleats
Pleats are in this season and they are coming in big!  These "knife" pleats cut a powerful swath with ladylike precision.

PASTELS- Specifically Lilac
This pale, powdery hue flatters most skin tones and is EVERYWHERE.  It feels as fresh as sorbet after a heavy meal.

Athleticism
An athletic aesthetic took over the runways, most notably: baseball caps, tennis-inspired dresses and varsity jackets.
